Special Considerations for Pocket POS

Pocket POS uses Terminal Services to run. This means that each pocket POS device that starts, physically creates a windows session on the server. It is as if a user would physically log onto the server machine. As a result, the user verification as well as startup and log-on scripts are executed when a Terminal Services session is started (read: when a Pocket POS device is started.)

Co-existence of Pocket POS with other server programs.

W: Drive creation.

When installing wInner on the server, a shortcut is installed to a Batch file that creates a W: drive using the SUBST command. Since Pocket POS is run in a session on the server, you may risk to create 2 W: drive creations when the shortcut is in the startup folder of the "All users" directory. The startup Batch file for Pocket POS will first create the W: drive, an then it will automatically launch the Pocket POS program.

Startup Shortcuts to other programs:

Avoid creating shortcuts to other programs in the "All Users" or "Default User" startup folder. For example, if a shortcuts exists to the telephone interface, in the "All Users" or "Default User" startup folder, this will cause the interface to start on the Pocket POS device when it logs-onto the server.
