Pocket POS uses Terminal Services to run. This means that each pocket POS device that starts, physically creates a windows session on the server. It is as if a user would physically log onto the server machine. As a result, the user verification as well as startup and log-on scripts are executed when a Terminal Services session is started (read: when a Pocket POS device is started.)
Co-existence
of Pocket POS with other server programs.
W: Drive creation.
When installing wInner on the server, a shortcut is installed to a Batch file that creates a W: drive using the SUBST command. Since Pocket POS is run in a session on the server, you may risk to create 2 W: drive creations when the shortcut is in the startup folder of the "All users" directory. The startup Batch file for Pocket POS will first create the W: drive, an then it will automatically launch the Pocket POS program.
Therefore, the Shortcut to the Batch file for creation of the W: drive should ONLY be present in the startup folder of the appropriate users. e.g. the users: wInner, NTDTS and administrator.
The shortcut should be removed from the "All Users" or "Default User" startup folder.
Startup Shortcuts to other programs:
Avoid creating shortcuts to other programs in the "All Users" or "Default User" startup folder. For example, if a shortcuts exists to the telephone interface, in the "All Users" or "Default User" startup folder, this will cause the interface to start on the Pocket POS device when it logs-onto the server.
Ensure that No shortcuts exist in the "All Users" or "Default User" startup folder.
No shortcuts to Interfaces.
No shortcuts to BTW Program.
No other shortcuts of any kind.
In case interfaces need to start automatically, you will need to place the shortcuts in the appropriate user's directory. for example: for the users winner, ntdts and administrator.
