In hotels however, identification of a guest is very important. Since every citizen of Belgium will have an eID, Planet wInner has already taken steps to overcome this problem. The wInner system has been made eID compatible as of January 2005, and its implementation is available as of version 2005. The computers at the reception of the hotel have to be equipped with a chip card reader validated by the government. When a customer arrives at the hotel for check-in, it is no longer be necessary to go through the identification process manually, but simply ask the customer to enter his eID in the card reader, and with a simple mouse-click, the procedure is done automatically. Searching the reservation happens automatically; the front desk clerk can print the registration form containing the data from the card and the customer profile data (address book) can be updated with the information retrieved from the eID. In the future eID shall enable other functions such as an electronic signature, which can be of significant value in e-commerce. Belgium is the first country to use eID, and other countries will follow. As we write this, Italy and Spain are fully preparing the use of eID. Also Microsoft has recently confirmed that it will integrate the eID card in Windows, starting with Microsoft Messenger. Other applications shall follow shortly. |

Welcome to the wInner Newsletter. It has been a while since our last edition and this is mainly due to a very busy last 2 years at Planet wInner. This can only mean good news to you since Planet wInner has been growing steadily. We now have over 250 sites using the wInner software ! As you know, technology constantly evolves and regularly new versions of various products apear on the market (among which the Microsoft Windows operating system). These new versions always contain interesting new functionality that makes our lives easier and savec costs. Microsoft recently decided that some of it’s older operating systems will be retired. This will be done by ceasing the support services for these products. Products concerned are Windows 98, Windows Me and Windows NT (The links in the frame on the right hand side provide more information on this subject). As a consequence more and more new software products no longer support these older operating systems. Among them is also the wInner software as of version 2005. In case your business still uses PC’s with one of the abovementioned older operating systems, we would like to advise you to consider upgrading these machines to Windows 2000 Pro or higher (Windows XP Pro, Windows Server 2003). |

Planet wInner will send out this new version along with information such as detailed instructions on how to install this version, as well as the preparations you should take in order to run this version and a document explaining all new and improved functions. Planet wInner also offers the option to have this new version installed by our services, combined, if required, with additional training. Front Office New function for ‘Rate Plans’. Now you can book reservations with day by day tariffs, as well as meals and number of persons to which it applies. Extended options for discounts. Discounts can be booked automatically, and, among others, they can be printed on the invoice. (e.g. reductions for travel agencies). Proforma invoices. A new function which allows to make a proforma invoice. Managing mealtimes. This option allows you to make statistics and prognoses of mealtimes in relation to bookings, accessories or arrangements in wInner Front Office. Automatic credit note. From now on, we shall be able to generate a credit note, based on an existing invoice. Searching invoices. It shall be possible to search a closed invoice directly from the history screen. Search guest, click on the button ‘history’, and here we shall be able to print out a closed invoice. Housekeeping Accessories on the housekeeping report. In case you make use of the module accessories, the accessories entitled to the housekeeping department shall be printed on the housekeeping report (e.g. extra bed, towels,…) City ledger When printing reminders, the date of the last print is kept, and is displayed on screen. Point of Sale Extended management mealtimes integrated with Front Office. Table reservations shall be made possible from Front Office. People at the reception desk shall be able to make reservations for the restaurant. Stock Control Automatic requisitions. Every department will be able to make automatic requisitions, based on a minimum stock level. It shall be possible to add remarks in stead of the price to certain articles. New and improved reports And much, much more… |

In wInner Front Office, as well as in wInner POS software, payment buttons can be added using the payments through the Banksys Terminal. If such a payment is made, the information is sent to the Banksys Terminal. Next the customer needs to enter the pin-code while the wInner application waits. Once the code is validated and the payment accepted by the Banksys Terminal, the wInner software will register the payment. This interface supports payments with Bankcontact, Proton as well as various Credit Cards. |

Recently, El Corte Ingles has made a study in which they were looking for a professional hotel managing system they could incorporate in their range of products. wInner has become the preferred system suggested by El Corte Ingles to hotels in need of a professional solution. The first hotel was already installed May 2005. |

As of wInner version 2005 new technologies have been implemented for reporting and data access components. These components are built to leverage the advantages of the newest technologies and operating systems created by Microsoft and Crystal Reports. This technology is compatibel with oprating systems as of Windows 2000 (and higher). |

In a few weeks time, wInner version 2005 will be released to all wInner users entitled to upgrades. As always, this version contains a whole series of new functions as well as improvements. Below we have listed a few of these new or improved functions (there are a lot more improvements however not all can be included in this newsletter). |

Every new version of wInner contains a whole new range of novelties and improvements. Improvements such as the implementation of new technologies are approved by Planet wInner after careful analysis and research. However, the decision process for new functions or improvements to existing functions is altogether different. For these developments we always listen to what you, the end user, have to say. In other words, your wishes and desires are translated into improvements and new functions implemented in the new wInner versions. |

Since January 1st 2005, electronic identity cards (eID) have been issued in Belgium. Planet wInner provides a flawless integration with this electronic identity card as of version 2005. Each Belgian citizen will receive an electronic identity card (eID) in short term. This chip-card contains a picture, the registry number, electronic signature and basic information of the citizen, both stored on the chip and printed on the card. On the card however, no address information is printed, this information is stored on the chip. |

Planet wInner is developing a new interface with the Banksys system, and this from version 2006 on. This interface will allow you to connect a Banksys terminal to a computer using wInner. This computer has to be equipped with a serial port (RS-232). |

wInner Spain has recently signed an agreement with the group ‘El Corte Ingles’. This group is known for its large supermarkets in Spain. El Corte Ingles is also a major buyer’s organisation for companies and industry and as such also sells software, even hotel software. |
